For Particpants in the AMC 150 Paddle to Round Pond
Because you will be camping on Beal Island in Georgetown Maine, the Volunteer Committee that operates and maintains Knubble Bay Camp and Beal Island have prepared this important information for you. Please take a few minutes to read it and don’t forget to fill out the registration form at the link below.
Logistics:
• We suggest that you take a minute to learn about Beal Island where you will be camping. Also, here is information on Knubble Bay Camp. (KBC) If you have not been to Beal Island, you are in for a treat, it is a beautiful place. Similarly, if you haven’t paddled in this area you are sure to have a great time and likely to see eagles, osprey, seals and maybe a harbor porpoise.
• The Knubble Bay Camp/Beal Island Volunteer Committee will be holding its 150th event (Lobsters & Kayaking) from Friday evening 8/14 until late afternoon 8/16. Because of that, we apologize that you will not be able to park your car at KBC.
• Your relay trip leader, Peter Roderick, will work with you to get your boat and gear to KBC, park your car off site, and get a ride to KBC. He will also arrange the car shuttles to/from the relay endpoint at Round Pond in Bremen.
• When you arrive at KBC, you may pump fresh water from the lower well and use the outdoor outhouse behind the shed. Please bring your boat & gear down the stairs to the beach, load up, and paddle to Beal Island. Because we expect a full house of paying guests at KBC , please keep your time at KBC to a minimum and unless you are coming to KBC for a meal, please do not go into the cabin or up onto the cabin decks.
• Whenever you tie up your boat on the beach at KBC, please keep to the far right as you face the stairs from the beach.
• Although you have already registered for this event led by the AMC Maine Chapter, you still need to register with the Knubble Bay Camp/Beal Island Volunteer Committee.
• Please fill out and return the Camping & Meals registration form by July 15. Registration Form Here
