Safely paddling the waters in the vicinity of KBC and Beal Island requires awareness of the tides and especially the currents. Below are links to the three areas marked in RED on the chart. For Lower Hell Gate and Lowe Point, the links are to the NOAA current predictions at those locations. The current in the waters between KBC and the beach at Beal Island is generally 1 knot or less. The timing of the current’s ebb and flow in the waters between KBC and the beach at Beal Island closely coincides with the timing for the ebb and flow at Lowe Point.
